Looks great!

Might be a stupid or impropper question, but what does a cage like that cost? I have a CE 8-point cage in boxes for my Swinger, but I'm not sure how they're going to fit for a street car. I've been told it costs about $100 per point to have one welded in, just wondering what it costs to have one bent up and welded in?

Thanks!

I think the going price is approx $100 a point...alot of guys charge $125-up per point for a custom cage to compensate for the pices flux in materials...

...this guy told me $1500 for mild steel 12pt...and $2000 for chrome moly...I went for the chrome moly...he also is going to finish my subframe connectors...add rocker bars a 3 piece tub bar, and tie the front strut bars to the shock towers...

Wow, $2000 doesn't sound bad at all if he's doing all the other work too. I would rather go chrome moly too. I'm familiar w/ 4130 from BMX frame and forks. It's good, strong stuff.

Nice. Just curious though, what kinda of racing you intending? The reason I ask is I am wondering why you have the extra bar running the sides along the bottom of the door? I can tell from the pics that you have sub frame connectors so it just seems a little odd that someone would want to put the extra weight that those bars add when they are unnecesary, although chromoly is lighter and it wont add a large amount, it is still added weight. Very nice work on going thru the dash and the forward down bars, looks like he does quality work and if he is doing all moly for 2 g's thats a bargain, most especially with the cost of the steel alone, these days.

It's a Street driven car...but not daily...I plan on racing heads up for $$$ at the track when street car nights come about...the extra weight doesn't bother me...I'll just try to make more power...I rather have the safety also...I think a lighter car may be harder to control...the chassis guy explained that he does the extra bars so just in case the cert rules change I won't have to go back for alot of extra work...this cage is like a hybrid...

Really nice work.  I like the way the cage is tied into the shock mounts.  Real clean through the firewall and dash also.

The guy knows how to make things look as stealthy as possible...he does a lot of cars for street racers...they like everything to be tucked away as much a s possible...
when I went to him he said, "I know exactly what your looking for"...he took longer than he said he would, but I think it was worth the wait...besides he did the extra work for me...trunk floor, fuel cell mount, shock tower supports and subframe connectors...

The rocker bar is required on the driver side - gotta have it for 9.90's or quicker.  I don't have my book in front of me, but I think that's the case.

Joe @ J&M Race Cars...he's in Lindenhurst...he's a one man show...I can e-mail you his info if you want...

on another note...I have him working on a K-frame for me in his spare time that will have the stock location for the steering box (for guys who don't want to go to a rack set up)...it will have the oil pan clearance needed for big blocks also...nowhere near what the Alter K offers and no disrespect to Bill...but for the guys who are on a budget...
