Installing front fenders
« on: June 15, 2006, 02:27:52 AM »

OK, hopfully I'll be putting my front fenders back on my 70 this Sunday so I can prep and paint the rest of my engine bay. Is there anything that needs to go inbetween the inner fenders and the fenders to prevent rattles? I remember sanding off the remnantes of what looked like seam sealer around the top inner fender bolt holes. I was thinking about putting thin strips of foam inbetween them (like the kind you use on a camper shell) will this work?

Thanks

Lars,
I'd be concerned about water retention in the foam.   Get yourself some 3M Strip Caulk and lay down there.   I think that's about the closest product you'll find to the caulking they used from the factory...

Couldn't get the 3M stuff, went with some waterproof gasket maker, we'll see how it works out.  Embarrassed
