It's 1978 all over again!!
|
I was working away today and I got a call from my interior guy telling me that he was finished installing my Legendary seat covers. I'm pretty stoked!! Here is what they look like. I am going to get my floorboards patched next weekend, and then things should start to go back together. I am going to add a Hurst Pro-matic shifter, new doorpanels, carpet, package tray, headliner and complete stereo! All of these things have been in boxes gathering dust, and now it's finally time for it to start coming together.

YOUR SEATS LOOK AWESOME! It's SOOOOOO nice to have the seats rebuilt to better that new condition isn't it? We totally rebuilt the front bench and rear seat in my sons 72 Dart Swinger in 2005, and it now feels like we are sitting and driving a brand new car! I used Legendary seat covers, seat foam, door panels, arm rest, rear package tray and door panel attaching clips, along with new inner window cranks, spacers and screws. The only Legendary product that I wasn't extremely happy with, was the door panels, as even though they are nice looking, they do not have the padded look like the original factory door panels have, but I understand that Legendary is now offering the factory look alike panels, so you should be in good shape. Thanks! Your interior turned out nice also!
I bought the Legendary door panels, but haven't even had a chance to pull them out of the box yet. I have new carpet, headliner, and package tray going in.
I am currently trying to find a good supplier of floor pans. A bit more rust there than I had originally thought. Things should go together pretty quickly after I get the passenger side replaced.

Hey Brian,
If possible, could you post a picture or two of your new Legendary door panels? I'd like to see if there is any difference between your new ones and the ones that I bought last year. We were lucky with our Dart, as it was originally a California car and then moved here to Phoenix Arizona, so we did not have to deal with any rust problems, other than a little bit on the lower edge of the rear window glass area and some in the spare tire well in the trunk. Good luck on your car and please keep us posted on your progress ok?
Richard

Here is a picture of the one of the fronts. I am converting it to a 68 interior since that's what buckets I had.

Thanks for the door panel picture Brian. It's hard to tell from the picture, but are they padded like the originals, or just the vinyl glued over the backing board?

There is padding between the vinyl and the panel.

I've got to locate a right front floor pan. Kind of stalled til I find one at a resonable price. ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif)

Hi again Brian,
Here's a picture of the Legendary Auto Interior's door panels that I bought in 2005 for my son's 72 Dart Swinger.

Those look good! Is there a problem with them? You mentioned no padding, but you can't really tell from the picture.

Hi Brian, it's pretty hard to tell in these smaller pictures that we have to post here, but while my door panels do look alot nicer that the 34 year old originals that were replaced, the new panels do not have the nice padded look and feel that the originals had. I did talk to the folks at Legendary about this problem after I had installed the new panels and they told me that they agreed and that they had already started producing the correct padded panels for some cars, but the A-Body panels had not beem done as of the time that I bought mine back in early 2005. I do believe that they ARE available now though, as your panels look VERY nice! Richard

Both yours and Richard's interior pieces look great. Feels good sitting on new seats, especially when you are a little larger than most. Year One should have those floor pans in stock. Someone left a grommet out of the firewall allowing rain water to gather under my brake pedal. I had mine in about 7 business days. The fit was perfect also. Tom

beautiful seats! I have a Pro-Matic shifter as well and found the old style pistol grip shifter for automatics on eBay. The hole in the bottom of the pistolgrip is not threaded (it comes with a set screw...) so I threaded it and used a helicoil to mount it. The same guy that sells these sells a new shift pattern piece for the top that has reverse shift pattern and he sells water buffalo horn grips. I think the pistol grip was $150.00 and the grips another hundred. kinda steep when you think the hurst shifter was only $140.00...ahh what's another couple hundred after so many others? The price of cool just keeps climbing
