SIX PACK FAST IDLE SOLENOID QUESTION?
« on: June 23, 2006, 03:39:29 PM »

Just wondering exactly what it does, and if anybody has one for sale for a 440 six pack, I know of one for sale, and have traded emails with the guy, and I have seen the brand new ones on ebay for sale , I think over $200.00 for the little bugger hammer.
Thanks for the info.

Some of the 70s cars had trouble idling on the idle circuit only, but if the throttle plates were opened to keep it from stalling they would diesel on shut down. The idle solenoid opens the throttle plates a little to allow an idle, but closes when you shut the key off so that it won't try to keep running.
