79 wiring in an 86
« on: January 09, 2006, 12:58:58 AM »

i have a friend with a 79 PowerWagon that is just for parts now so i thought i could take some of the wiring under the dash and some of the engine compartment. Doses anyone know if this will work or not, the main connector on the firewall are the same, but i dont wont to put something in that just doesnt work together with what i have. i have found a harness that painless makes that i believe i can get to work with a few changes, but my pockets are empty for the next few months.

You need to get both wiring diagrams and compare them OR you need to swap every wire from one truck to the other. Chrysler was known to make bulkhead pinout changes each year, some more dramatic than others.
