Just wanted to know what you guys think of my car. This was my first time painting a car. The color is sassy green with gold pearl (cant really see on picture, its very subtle). Still has the /6 in it. I plan on putting a 360 carb magnum with a manual tranny , 8 3/4 rearend, wilwood disc brakes on 4 corners and 17 inch boyd coddington junkyarddogs. (BTW, I hate the guy, but he does have nice rims at a reasonable cost) spaces.msn.com/members/frederictessier [attachment deleted by admin]

Looks great, but there's some guy blocking part of the car. Oh, and what's that white stuff on the ground?

dang nice looking hotrod you have there. that being your first paint job just wait untill you have done several of them you'll have folks knocking your door down to paint their's. you have a really great plan to hop her up but a 360 <): to me a bigblockdart is the greatest hotrod on the planet, hope you'll reconsider one day.l

I really dig the two-tone and with the right set of wheels, that car will look sweet.

Nice first paint job. You're not standing in front of a really wavy quarter panel, are ya? Good luck with the rest of the build - and get that thing out of the snow! Mark

Mark No, I was just trying to hide the 185/80r13 rear wheels!!!! I took this picture right before putting it in storage. Dont worry, I'm not driving it in the winter You can go on my website for more pics BTW : spaces.msn.com/members/frederictessier Fred

Looks good, Fred. I have to give you a lot of credit for doing the job yourself. I'm a self taught body and paint guy, and can really appreciate the effort you put into the work.

Looks good. What paint system did you use? Did you do a lot of metal/body work?
Congrats,

I used Sherwin Williams Ultra 7000 basecoat and clearcoat. I sanded the car down to bare metal. Didn't have to do that much bodywork, all the panels were pretty much straight. I used SW epoxy primer over the bare metal.

I'd love to try that. Any info on shaving the door handles?
I welded the holes shut, and a little bondo over to make it straight. I bought the kit off ebay for 80$. I went that way because repro handles cost around 125$ and I was painting the car anyways. It came with two 45 pounds solenoid, 2 remotes, the receiver and the wiring. Easy to plug in if you have basic electrical skills. The solenoid pulls on the latch, so u have to mount it below the latch. Theres plenty of room inside the door to mount it. U can also remove the door lock knob and rob inside the door and shave the hole (the door always stays unlocked, or the solenoid wouldnt pop the door open) I know they sell a door popper that pops your door open completely, which is basically a spring that pushes the door open. I didnt want to go this way, in case I accidentally open the door beside a hemi cuda convertible Mine just pop the door about an inch or so. I also shaved the trunk. I bought an electric moapr latch, bolts right in. I dont know what car it came off, probably late 70 early 80s. The receiver has 7 channels, so u can control a lot of things with it (doors, trunk, electric windows, radio....) Doesnt work on the wife Fred
