identification of wires on a factory 67 Barracuda harness
« on: July 15, 2006, 12:26:21 PM »

I have a couple of questions about the existing wiring on my 67' Barracuda. I have a wire I took off the brake proportioning valve, is this wire for the idiot light or is it for brake lights? The brake pedal has a plunger style switch that operates with the movement of the brake pedal, I assume this is my brake lights, is this true? I have another wire that went to the transmission and goes to the starter relay, is this my neutral safety switch and if so how do I adapt this to the 3 prong style, with what two additional wires? I have read the topic on the neutral safety switch on the board here and still do not have a definite conclusion. hammer The harness in question is a slant 6 w/automatic.

The brake prop valve wire is for the idiot light in the dash. That light can also be lit by the switch on the park brake handle.

The three-prong switch is a combination Nuetral Safety Switch and Bakup Light Switch. the outer two prongs are backup lights and the middle prong is the NSS contact.
