The motor is in the car, it's just about ready to fire.  The neighbor's will be treated to an open header fire up since the new mufflers will require a little bit of fabrication to get on the car.  motorinstall
I fired mine Saturday! I was delayed by a seized Mallory 250 fuel pump (I did un-seize it). I think I will be ordering another Product Engineering pump on Tuesday.

Motor is in  Grin

Need to
* add water
* add tranny fluid
* plum a new line to the oil puke bottle, I relocated it
My new mufflers will require some work to get on the car so the neighbors will get treated to an "open header fire-up" some time this week, I'm sure they will be pleased  Roll Eyes  lol

I finished putting the Hush Mat down in my interior today.  Everything is pretty much covered including the roof.  I couldn't resist, it was such a nice day, that I put the buckets back in and drove it to the car wash/gas station.  It's been awhile, I forgot how much fun it is to actually drive your car instead of just walking around it in the garage!

I figured out that the vibration I used to have came from the junk BFG TAs that I used to have on it.  When I sold my 75 a few months ago, I swapped the rallyes off of my car to help the 75 sell better.  The 78 series all season tires that I have on now, look like crap, but drive out real smooth.  70 down the highway, no vibrations.  When I swap to BBP later this summer, I will buy new wheels and tires.  But for now, it's white wall city.

Here is a picture of the buckets installed.  I have new carpet, door panels, head liner, dash pad, floor shift column, package tray, Alpine stereo and speakers all waiting to be installed.  Guess I'd better get off the computer and get back out there!

alright kiddies, today i got the cam degreed in with the crank. it centerlined at 118 and after awhile it settle in at 108, perfect, just what the cam card calls for. i also found positive top dead center for the timing tab on the gear drive. painted the tab and scribed a new mark on it.

Ive been making some progress on the Scamp I picked up from Newbomb Turk. Finally got the engine bay sprayed (my first time with paint that wasnt in a spray can, LOL) and dropped the 340/904 in.

Motor is an 11:1 comp 340 with a big solid cam, heavily reworked iron heads, LD340 intake with all the old Direct Connection mods done to it, 910cfm Demon Sizzler built Therquad and TTI headers. The motor made 480hp @ 6900rpms with a Victor intake and a Proform 750. Hoping for low 12s high 11s.  Im also working on a deal for a 67 Barracuda Notchback that will get back halved and get a 440/727.

well kiddies today a had to drill and tap the oil hole in the back of the block to feed the indy 440-1 heads, oil pressure gauge and the low oil pressure light. kb only had a 1/8" or so hole to supply it all. that was fairly easy to do compared to figuring out why the oil pump drive wouldn't go down on the bushing. after a few hours i finally got it, the tip was to long and was one of the things but the main problem was the hex taper to the round shaft was too short. that must of been the reason i had to make a spacer for both of my other motors. \/][ well i got out the trusty 4" grinder and ground the hex part longer and tapered it. fits fine now.  Cheers

Bob, sounds like your drive was for a Milodon pump. They are a little longer than the others.

yep that was what my other two motors had on it. today i bolted the oil pump on and measured the diameter of the intermediate shaft for a roller bearing. i also fitted the roller cam botton in and drilled and tapped the holes in the gear drive cover for 5/16 bolts.

today i was able to mark and cut a 1/4" thick piece a aluminum plate out into a circle to bolt to the gear drive cover to drill and tap for a bolt and lock nut for the roller cam button to push against . this is sooooo slow going.

wow, makes my projects sound easy

subframe connectors (next)
complete redo of the fuel system from tank forward (getting that low hanging fuel pump mounted to somewhere...sane) awaiting subframe completion for proper fuel line routing
complete redo the whole charging and starting system (done but untried)
safety loop
exhaust system mods to accomodate the loop
dana fab/cut down and mount

thats the current list.  once those are done....well, I'll just have to think of something else, eh?

I just squeezed my leafsprings inboard for my FAB9 rear with 4:10's.  Next will be the aluminum 572 Hemi with the CRT 727 and GVR.  I hope to run high 9's and I will not be taking prisoners.

I installed my Boston Acoustic 6X9s and new package tray today.  Also put in the cardboard divider between the rear seat and trunk with it's jute pad.  It's starting to come along!

not a real big story. i have a rack and pinion steering and won't be needing it and from the size of the thing it displaces about 3 quarts of oil. with that gone the pan will hold 15 quarts, with about 1 quart in the motor, 1 quart in the filter, 1 quart in the lines and then over fill it by 2 to 3 quarts to account for what is pumped to the top of the motor and doesn't drain back to the pan fast enough that should be just about right.  Roll Eyes

Hey, I got my hood on today too! I just needed to make the hole a little bigger for the air cleaner. I also disconnected the electronics, for now. I spent some time trying to figure out the wiring.

I'll bet you didn't need to recruit the neighbor to put the hood on  hammer Stupid bolt on hood.  Next winter the car is getting a carbon fiber lift off hood

Actually this thing is kind of heavy. It is a stock steel hood with all the bracing removed. So it is heavy and flimsy... Last time I talked to Tweety he was going to help me with a glass or carbon hood.
