you guys have alot of cool stuff going on. if anyone cares i have a caddy engine i'm building and just got my new 440 block from bill mitchell it's the 2nd one i have got from them very nice pieces. the caddy engine is for my beater 73 nova play car/test car. mocked up the engine made some headers for it last dec. i just finished porting the heads a few weeks ago and they ended up flowing pretty good. more then i though they would. the rods are ford 7" because the big ends are the same as caddy but i had to hone the small ends and bush for full floaters. the pistons are big block chevy 454's that were .070 over for the chevy but only .020 for the caddy. had to cut the pistons for valve clearance. the chevy compression height is 1.664 so to get it to 0 deck i had to take .020 off the deck of the block. compression came out to 11.84 to 1 with a flat top and the cam i had ground is .650 int and exh lift and 293 int and 308 exh duration. scored a bulldog intake for it a couple yrs ago dominater flange. 1050 dom. the last one made 601hp witout porting so hoping for 670hp or more with this setup. talk about torque mosters the last engine made over 600ftq from 2500 to 6000rpm's. i pulled the 605 apart to start the rebuild and make it ready for the twin turbo's but it will be a yr project.

Finally took some pics of last weeks piston cooking  Evil  Also snapped a couple of the painted and smoothed firewall.  It's the wrong color, but you get the idea.  It's going to be a shame to sand off two perfectly good coats of clear to get what I want, but dammit I paid for it!
those look pretty good...is that a eastwood kit or?

Still working on my Challenger.  Street car project, 500 incher, victor heads, ladder bars, coil overs, AlterKtion, narrowed D60 with auburn unit and moser axles.  Also doing 4L80E swap with manual valvebody conversion from Trans Go.  Tires on rear are 325-50-15 M/T Drag radials on a 15x10 Boyd Smoothie II wheel.  Fronts are 15x6 with BFG's.

Engine...

Throttle body for EFI, got a Victor EFI manifold on the way.

Custom made pan - ground clearance!!!!

Just a show off shot...

...and a real big mock-up thread that I have been adding to periodicly on another board....

Not Eastwood - it's from www.techlinecoatings.com  I think it's the CBC2 thermal coating.  About $35 for a small bottle (plenty for a few sets) and all you need to apply it is a $7 detail gun from Harbor Freight.  Cook 'em first at 400F, then blast the tops, then coat 'em and cook 'em!

today i got the belt guard bent a little more to suit myself and made one more bracket to hold it on. i also cleaned the zillion pieces of bearing and rod out of the oberg filter, what a mess. i mounted it to the engine plate and made two oil lines from the kb oil pump to it.

So I thought all the pistons were coated and fine.  Bakaruda comes up to visit and I'm showing him the fancy coated pistons and he finds a flake!  WTF!  Now I'm trying to recoat it and I'm getting bubbles GRRRR... Glad he found it though.  Better now than after the motor is built and I get a hot spot on the piston.  Sad

well lets see yesterday i found out that the set-back plate for the supercharger was machined wrong and i need to get one that acturally will fit or weld and machine this one to fit correctly. today i cut the oil pan about 3/4" below the pan rail and made some spacers 1 1/4" to gain more oil and abrasive welded it up, he's getting better at aluminum all the time.  Grin

The only thing GM about that is the bolt pattern.  LOL drag tree
I hope to make enough power to need it to. I always wanted a lenco.  4 speed  This is going to be an all out effort so why not start with parts that will last. wait till the motor starts going together Cool

well kiddies today was a day of "giterdone day". the demon is off the trailer for the first time in a year. jheeze was it she dirty. the green mold on the new puke tanks was a bit unusual to say the least and the hood sagged a bit on one side, damit jim. i got it all cleaned inside and out except vacuuming the carpet and trunk, still a bunch of parts in there anyway. what a huge difference, she looks great again but the wheels are a little corroded.  Roll Eyes oh ya, i punched another hole in the oil pan for the swringing pick-up and painted it flat black, the one abrasive welded, looks ok, i hope it holds oil. lol LOL

yiper today was a day that i didn't have to anything just once. abrasive's oil pan welding leaked but only in 9 places so a little 4 minute jb weld and some more paint and she was a keeper.  Grin we lowered the motor in the demon  motorinstall and to have to remove it to drill the motor plate.  Roll Eyes ok, we installed the last 2 oil lines from the pick-up to the pump. well for the life of me i couldn't fine the flex plate to crank bolts, look all over for an hour. then abrasive found them and didn't tell me.  bat he just was setting in front of the motor putting them in so i saw him and let him get 7 of the 8 in and then told him they needed to have loc-tite on them. lol so anyway we lower the motor in once more  motorinstall and finished bolting it up to the tranny.  duster end of the day and story fellows.

well kiddies i've been getting a flu bug since monday and haven't been to work tuesday and today. i recieved the correct blower set-back plate yesterday and today abrasive came over and installed it. so anyway he sits the 14-71 on it and guess what? the supercharger doesn't go all the way back, it hits the coweling, needs at least 1/2" more space. which brings us to " i don't have to do anything just once". so he removes it and cuts the coweling back 3/4". cool ah, it should fit the next time the blower goes on, gosh i sure hope so.  Roll Eyes he welded it all up and when i get to feeling better i'll start the body work, burnt paint you know and paint the entire coweling. oh, great fun again.  Tongue

Just got the Dart's Glass in (with my son's help) and wipers back on...  I've had the car torn apart since February.  The new A/C is all hooked up and I need to get it charged Monday, then I can get the dash in, there's a small local show up here next Saturday so the push is on to get as much done as possible...

well kiddies today was another "githerdone"day. i got by a$$ out of bed this morning and sanded the mess me and abrasive made cutting and welding the hole for the supercharger to set in and i even managed to piant it with just a few runs. Tongue oh well ya can't see 'em with the fat blower in front of them anyway. so a quick call to abrasive's cell and he was on the way here. i had all the paper off the hotrod when he arrived and we sat the littlefield on the manifold, good grief is that thing large i mean LARGE. ok on goes the injector hat and i need to studs for it. off to lowe's bu;t no way, so off to true value, score. well all and all i got the pumping done and all the return lines made except one for the push button leanpout. the pump on, the belt guard's on and the trottle will need a bracket made for it since the riser makes it 4" taller. that's it for today.  Grin

I'm concentrating all evil efforts into the nasty, Suffolk County circa 1956 split level house my wife had to have because it's "South of Montauk Highway".  Once this S box is done, I'll build my 24 x 30 heated, air conditioned garage and let the fun begin. In the meantime, I'm collecting parts and ideas.

I FINALLY got the last piston coated with NO BUBBLES!  It only took me six tries (bOb would be proud).  Got two pistons into the short block last night too.  More to follow today!  Progress is fun!
