Got a little work done on Baby Jaws. Took it int out to redo it and found just a small spot of rust. Got most of the TTI exhaust put on, 2 1/2 inch had to modify one head pipe as it was all over the floor. And also worked on getting to top side hooked up. Its getting close to first fire and breakin.  Dave

I haven't accomplished much in quite a while, but at least this is about my car.
I've been working on a 68 Dart post for several years, intended to be a daily driver. I havent got alot of work done in the last couple years, but I collect alot of parts. My job, kids, and lawnmower racing take most of my time, but I'm sitting on a small fortune in parts.
The original plan was 440/727/8 3/4. All of which I have. A while back I picked up a couple of 4 speeds. One is a early B-body ball and trunion version, the other is a 23/25 spline, short tail, which I think makes it a 66-67 A-body unit.
I really like the idea of a 4 speed, but I'm not sure if the small output shaft is up to a mild 440 on street tires. I'd rather sell it than break it.
Someone on here mentioned a slip yoke from a truck that works on the ball and trunion output, so I may persue that.
I picked up a set of Pro Parts headers, which to be honest, I don't know why they arent more popular.
When I did the mock up, they fit great. They cleared everything, including the 205/65/15's.
I'm not mini tubbing it. I have the kit for the 7/8" relocation. I can fit 275/60/15's in there with that setup.
That should be enough to get it going.
I'm shooting for a semi-stock appearance with a bench seat, cop wheels, and poverty caps. Original color is B5 blue, so I might as well stick with it. It has a shit load of stainless trim around the windows, and I kinda think it will look nice.
My goal is to get the body, paint, and interior to top condition. I'd like to get 12's with at least 15 mpg, and decent handling/braking.
I've decided I'm giving this car to my son, who is 13 now. (and working hard on a football scholarship)
Well anyways, sorry about the rambling post, but at least it's not politics.

72 Duster:

Just did 73 disc brake conversion. Car still has 318/904/ 7 1/4 as it sits. I have 383/727/ 8.34 waiting. I took some advice a long time ago when I started this whole thing, collect the parts before you get started. Still need to buy dash pad and carpet, XHD springs, driveline mod, shumacher conversion, and fiberglass hood and fenders.

My daily driver, the Dakota, is having some weird issues right now that's diverting time and money from the projects, but hopefully not for long.

I'm finishing up the Demon right now. It'll be "done" hopefully by the end of next week. I don't think there's anything left for me to tweak on it after this last few months... I do still need a little body and paint repair on the passenger's side door, but thats nothing major.

Progress continues on my friends '76 Dart Sport. We have completely stripped the interior minus the dash, cleaned everything, and put the seats back in. We're also beginning the process of pulling the slant six, and in the next couple months we'll be transplanting the old 360 from my Cuda into it, whenever he's ready. It'll be hooked up to his old 904 that's being rebuilt right now. We're still looking for two big-bolt A-body 8-3/4s, he needs one and I need one. The front suspension needs rebuilt badly, and he needs new shocks and springs in the back. We'll probably do the rear suspension when we get him an 8-3/4 to put in it.

And finally, we just cleaned our garage out so that we actually have room to work on the 'Cuda. The plans are to start stripping, cleaning, and bagging everything by the end of next month. I'm pulling the 360/904 and selling it to the guy with the '76 Dart, and probably trashing the broken 7-1/4 rear. I'm replacing it all with a 400/727/8-3/4 combo. Still need the rear (as mentioned), a wiring harness, and a '73+ disc setup. Then I'll do the suspension and hopefully have this beast on the road by next year at the latest.

Locating a floor section for the '67.  By that I mean the complete floor.  Should have the Dana 60 under the car pretty soon, just needing to get the rear end back from sandblasting and assembly will start on that.

Those look real nice A13, that is my next project after I get my interior back together.

I spent Sunday installing a sound deadening material called Hush Mat, all over my floorboards.  I replaced the right pass pan about 6 months ago along with some smaller patch panels. Then I sealed it all up with a rust encapsulator and coated all the seams with seam sealer.   Here are some picts...

Well I finally got my garage done, so we uncovered and cleaned off and cleaned out the Demon and started laying out the wiring harness, then all this rain hit New England and I spent all of today dealing with water in the basement of my 6 month old house...

ok kiddies this wil be the continuing story of "at least i don't have to do anything just once" so pay attention  Shocked as i assemble my new motor with mostly used parts.  Roll Eyes last friday, the 18th i finally got to work on the hotrod after purchaing the block 2 years ago and breaking the mega block 3 years back. i pushed the new keith black stage 10 out onto the driveway and washed it off and honed the slightly rusted cylinders with a 400 grit ball hone. then oil them down and bagged it up. took those damn spiro-locs out, all 32 of the little ba$tards, washed the pistons, rods, main caps, nuts and washers and bagged them up too. used a air impact wrench to remove the pete jackson gear off the roller cam. saturday abrasive and i checked his 500 cu in motor for valve to piston clearance and the exhaust was fine but the intake needs a .070" deeper cut in the piston. sunday i checked my 440-1 for leaking valves and only found 4 exhausts and one intake leaking mineral spirits out of them.  \/][ the one exhaust vavle that did hit the #7 piston when the rod cap broke didn't leak at all, very stange.  Whew

Everything! That does not cost money, all I have is elbow grease.

I have finally finished the dent repair on my left rear quarter, its about as smooth as it can possibly ever get, I have to sand down the rest on the driver's side of the car now, and take out a few dings. I just removed all the trim and some of the interior this past weekend, I also got the car running again, turned out to be a bad fuel pump. I hope to get it all in primer by the end of next month.

Well I have my front end sheet metal off...installed lite hood springs - No more broom handle to hold up the hood, although it WAS a nice broom handle!
Getting the heat and new A/C Hooked up and finishing the remaining wiring I never got around too so the car will finally be DONE!  Once the A/C and Heat is working I can get the dash back in (an A-10 (with no radio cutout) from RMD...Oh that's my company!) and the windshield back in.

It's May 23 here and snowing pretty good...

very nice grill my. well kiddies yesterday i didn't get to post how things went because of to much to do at work etc. i did get the main bearings cleaned and the crank in the block. i thought i would have a hard time with the main caps because of the super tight fit causing them to be real hard to remove. i used moly lube on the sides of them and the block and used a shop towel and dead-blow hammer and the ywent right in with no problem. then one turn back and forth on each nut, success.

alright jim. the kb blocks need some torque on those bolts huh? i have to buy a new torque wrench. the mains are torque at 170lbs and the double side bolts at 110lbs. oh yea the crank bolt goes to 400lbs. not sure i am strong enough for that.  Dunno  today i was able to get the oil galley plugs in and the cam freeze plug in too, fit the bottom gear drive gear on and wash the top gear and cam.

HUH? The mains and cross bolts are stamped on the rail it's
Main Studs 120 ft/lbs
Side bolts 80 ft/lbs
Seal 30 ft/lbs
I torqued the heads at 75 and the crank bolt to maybe 70, it's tough to get that one tight since the motor turns over when you tighten it  Dunno

well kiddies today i didn't get to much done. i did get the cam in the motor and the gears to the gear drive sorted out and cleaned. i have to figure out this thing because there isn't any line-up marks on either the crank or the cam gear. \/][ oh ya, i did get the oil hole to the heads taped and plugged off. having 440-1 heads it oils from the oil pressure hole in the back of the block where the sending unit would be install on a factory block, not the #4 cam journal. i had to take an old fuel "Y" block and clean it and install "an" fittings to oil the rocker gear. great fun these motors.  Gangster

The motor is in the car, it's just about ready to fire.  The neighbor's will be treated to an open header fire up since the new mufflers will require a little bit of fabrication to get on the car.  motorinstall
