today tommy, aka. abrasive came over the we mounted the hood on the hotroddemon. i had to remove the hinges and buy 2 sets on aluminum hood pins, got them in flat black. the front already had pins so we neede dto put the 4 across the back. i had to cut out about 8" of the hood where the supercharger sets back into the coweling, it also sets higher than the hood. we removed the last fender bolt by the firewall and made a bracket for the pin. about a 1' in towards the supercharger we made another bracket and the other pin, same thing for the other side. there is a very large hole for the supercharger to stick out and i cut out a small half moon for the fuel filter. next is paint.

Yesterday I got the ignition box out of the car.  I pulled a bunch of wiring out that I want to "re-do" when the dash is out.  I also removed the fire system plumbing.  It's ready to go to the body shop.  I'll pull the glass and get the dash out when it's at the body shop.

The new hood is MIA, last word is it's still a couple weeks out till the build it.  Undecided

Haven't done crap with the car since I bought the enclosed trailer.  I stripped and treated the undercarriage with Zero Rust, rebuilt the doors and put 24" of diamond plate on the bottom.  Installed cabinets, put in a plywood ceiling and rebuilt the entire rear ramp.  Still have to put the plywood down (pressure treated stuff is HEAVY!) and lay the coin rubber flooring on the ramp.  Looking for the right piano hinge for the extension.  Still need to wire it for 12V, but I put the electric tongue jack in and used jumper cables to level it all out.  That electric tongue jack is a "must have" - really nice.  I boxed the area around the ramp spring and did a couple other things to make it neat.  Lots of work, but it's going to be a good trailer when I'm done.

I just purchased this convertible, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=140186274502&rd=1

It's a GTS clone w/a '71 340/727/323 that I will be changing to Bill's alterKtion w/power steering and disc brakes, TTI headers, converting to the Keisler 5 speed manual overdrive and fitting 17X8 Foose Challenger wheels (closest thing I could find to the factory rallye) with 45/40 ratio tires.  Am I missing anything...oh yeah, a stealth sound system that can only be heard and not seen and then I'll have to figure-out what to do with all the factory parts that I removed.

The transport should be @ my door just after New Years and I hope to have this done by the first sunny day in spring, which is usually mid-summer here in Bellingham, Washington.

What a fantastic site and great group of people, if this place didn't exist I never would have bought the car...thanks for letting me live the dream.  BTW, my first car @ 16 was a real '69 GTS hardtop, bright yellow w/black bumble bee and interior, AC, manual/manual... I had no idea what I had at the time.  I finally figured it out, 30 years later.  Youth is wasted on the young ;-)

Thanks again, and I'll post progress pics for any who are interested

I wrestled with the idea of buying an entire project like Tony's red '68 convertible on Classic Auto Trader, but I wanted a well taken-care of base that I could turn into a sunny daily driver.  I realize the purity would be disturbed,  but my reasoning is that they were using the best technology available to them at that time and I'm taking advantage what's available today.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thx, J

Oh I understand completely, and BELIEVE ME when I say I'm NOT a purist by any means!  That's just one of the nicer looking cars I've seen in a long time.  Good luck with it!

A turbo wedge till I run out of blocks Grin most likely the motor in the valiant with a thicker head gaskit and some boost. I always told myself if I ever need an aftermarket block the only option was KB and then I will need heads to. Wink

Added A ported Victor intake, Pro-systems 1000 cfm carb and  welded the advance plate to lock down distributor to 34 to 36 degree's. Change the valve seals to Viton blue seals.

I'm working on mending a sprained rotator cuff, sprained A-C joint and a partially torn pectoral muscle (All from moving my new lift around by hand! Note to self, 1,000 pounds of steel is too much to move by hand!) and trying to slowly finish building a trailer for a guy at work so I can get back to work on the Demon  hammer

Yeah lesson learned! Hurts like a SOB, but atleast the lift posts are standing in position, the floor anchors are all in and snug, just need to shim the posts level, torque the anchors, run the hydraulic line and plug it in! Then it's back to bodywork on the Demon, the drivers quarter is ready for primer and fill work, the passenger side is cut off, the new one trimmed and ready to hang as soon as the inner rocker is patched up!
