wiper arm removal?
« on: July 19, 2006, 10:37:34 AM »

I tried a search, no results, but what is the easiest way to remove wiper arms? I tried pushing and pulling on the little clip right under the pivot, but still no luck. I don't want to pry too har against the cowl. Any pointers? Thanks.

get a paint stick and a little prybar. set the stick on the paint and lift the wiper arm up as high as it will go. pry it up off the post.

If it doesn't give right away, don't get too nuts with it or you'll damage the seals in the cowl and develop leaks. It's a serious PITA to replace those things...

I bought a windshield wiper arm removal tool from Year One. It's part # T81 and runs about $17.00. It has two arms that fit between the cowl and the bottom side of the wiper arm. Once the tool is in place, all you do is squeese the handle and the two arms on the tool expand and push the wiper arm off of the stud. The arm on the tool that sits on top of the cowl, has a rubber coating, so it doesn't scratch the paint. It's a great little tool and well worth the money.  Grin
