once the car is on jack stands and the adjusters are backed all the way off, and the clips are out, how do i get the torsion bars to slide out? thanks, -Evan

i usuallu have the lower control arm nut backed off and the strut rod nut backed off and bang the lower cantrol arm back and it will usually push the bar out the back...

 Pop the lower ball joint loose so the LCA can move easily. Loosening the LCA pivot nut is the way to go.

Did you remove the bump stops for the UCA, the front suspension should be at its lowest point for removal and installation of the torsion bar. Use the proper tool to remove the torsion bar, maybe your local parts store will loan you one, the local alignment shop, a shop class at the high school or college. You can also purchase suspension tools for a reasonable price from Just Suspension 800-872-1548 and others, these tools are from American Muscle www.americanmuscle.biz which have a large list of vendors. |

This is what I use, take the wire clip out and loseing the bar and hit the flat part of the clamp and drive it out the back.,this one was used over 10 times I know. Don't let it slide on the bar put it on good. This one is 1" cable clamp because my bar is .910 it cost less then $5

if your gonna use the clam idea then no.. nbut if you are gonna bang the control arm back then yes loosen the nut for the control arm and also the strut rod nut. |
