   agree i cant believe there is an "autobody only" site...... those guys need a life. (pot calling the kettle black  \/][ ) ....lots of good experience there. .....didnt mean to take over the thread earlier, i happened to be sittin here while u guys were asking questions.  glad i could help.

Not to sound like an Ahole here but Lacquer was used for years on cars...from the MANUFACTURER as well as shops. The main reason that Epoxy, and Urethane has come into the spotlite was Epa guidelines, ozone layer holes etc. I've been painting for more than 20 years and any job is only as good as the person making the repairs. Every paint system and type has benefits as well as drawbacks. Epoxy/Self etching Primers are great as they do have greater rust resistance and you can apply filler over them. But to a person that has little Body work experience Lacquer is great as its way more forgiving and allows you to fix screw ups with a lot less pain. I don't know if you guys have ever had the priviledge of having to repair an improperly applied Paint system. I have... Don't always think about what you would do, consider the knowledge base of the individual doing the job and what get the best results with their abilities. The kid down at the local Maaco couldn't tell me anything about paint anymore than I could tell Chip Foose... hammer
