headlight buckets
« on: January 11, 2006, 05:41:11 PM »

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

69 is the oddball. You won't get the 69 grille on correctly with the 67 fenders, either.

JIM
THIS IS THE CAR I GOT FROM YOUR NEIGHBOR DOWN THE STREET. I THOUGHT THE 67 WAS THE ODDBALL YEAR. THE ONLY LISTING I COULD FIND ARE FROM FIBERGLASS MAKERS, AND THEY JUST SHOW 67-69. ON THE ADJUSTING SCREWS, IS THE HORIZONTAL ( LEFT/RIGHT ) SCREW POINT TO THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE?? ANYONE GOT SOME GOOD 69 FENDERS THAT ARE ROT FREE?? MINE ARE REALLY NICE, STRAIGHT AND RUST FREE.  AT LEAST THAT WAY I WOULD HAVE THE SIDE MARKERS.  JIM, DO YOU HAVE THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE BUCKETS. I THINK I SAW SOMETHING ON THE OLD SITE BEFORE THAT SHOWED HOW YOU TELL THE LEFT FROM THE RIGHT. I THINK I JUST MIGHT START DRINKING AGAIN!

I guess I never looked closely at the front end. I don't have any of those numbers, sorry. The sad thing is that I could REALLY use some REALLY nice 67 fenders.

If somebody is working on a project where taking some pictures would be easy, that would help. Thanks in advance.

I have a '69 vert. that is original.
The only trouble is I am working in Houston and the car is at home (WA). If you can wait a couple of weeks I will be glad to pull mine and get #'s for you.

OK Joe,

Another reason to buy another camera. Have a Kodak that came with the daughters computer. I want a nice one for 'Pro' work.
