Thanks Mike

I used 16, at least that's what I think it was. I had it laying around. It was a VERY fine line getting the power right on my mig not to burn through, but turned out good.

I'm using 19 or 20 guage myself. The stock firewall is .040". I'm just about done smoothing mine - everything is cut out and I'm making cardboard templates for the new firewall. The biggest trick was welding the air box edges back together. I'm horrible at welding thin stuff ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) Good luck

You want smoothed? Here is my brother in laws Duster. The bulkhead was relocated to the driver inner fender and he even filled the hood hinge slots and all holes and dimples on the inner fenders

That looks sweet. I'd get a better throttle return spring though

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but did you ever wonder why a lot of those really wide and flat stampings, like hoods, quarter panels and the alike have those curves and indentations intentionally in them? They're there for strength, and in some cases for looks. Keeps them from flexing. If anything, I'd weld up the stamped holes for those things you won't be using and leave the stock firewall as is. But that's just my 2 cents....
