Loved those dashes. Contacted you guys (mike) and your customer service is excelent. Too bad We couldn't arrange for the "big" holes (speedo and tach) to be 4"...  I'd have loved to have one RMD on my dodge. keep up the good work. |

Aluminum is cool. How thick? Are the round inserts pressed in or welded in? Do they need prep work to be painted or powder coated? (do the welds need dressing?)

Let's see...The face is 1/8th inch aluminum, the tubes are welded to the back and conform to the shape of the face. We ship them either Powder Coated (black, gray or silver) or we sand them to remove tooling marks, we use a DA sander and 80 grit paper. Customers have polished them, Painted them, even put them in their car with the sanded finish (we don't recommend this unless they're clear coated.

The powder coating is $95.00, regardless of the size of the dash, and eliminating the light and wiper holes doesn't change the price....it's like not wanting pickles on your burger (you have to wait for them to make it special) |

i would rather wait, because that way i get my burger strait off the grill, not one that has been sitting on a hot plate for 20 minutes
i am contemplating moving them down to the console i am making, just for something different, i am moving most things down there such as switches for a cleaner look, what size are those holes for the lights and wiper, i would like to keep my brake pressure light also
its all speculation, i am think off asking my parents for one for Christmas (or late Christmas) and paying for part of it
is 1DART440's dash sanded with a clear coat?
also, how in the heck do you get the stupid dash pad off, im stumped

also, how in the heck do you get the stupid dash pad off, im stumped , i know what you mean. take out the dash insert, heater controls, and glove box. then you can reach in and take out the nuts that hold the dashpad to the dash. it helps to find somebody with skinny agile hands! i cant remember how many, maybe 7 or 8? |

Does powder coating fill in the line (joint) around the tube where it meets the face? I know this sounds confusing. The tube goes through the panel and is welded from the back, so there would be a circular joint line on the face. I know powder coating is thick, but I was wondering if it actually fills in that line?

There's no line to fill...the tube attaches to the back, it doesn't pass through. It's a very clean look.

I have one (not installed yet) and can tell you that the fitup is perfect before welding. There are some small welds on the back side. You have to look pretty hard to see the seam. The seam is not on the face, it's in the gauge tunnel.

the fronts are awesome, no doubt there, but Id just like to see how the gauges attach etc. and how youre wiring them up.

The gauges attach with the mounting brackets that come with the gauges, the tubes are made to act as a surface mount, so that part is easy.
Wiring: you have to run a common Power, Common Ground, Light Power and I Grounded the lights separate from the gauge grounds, then each gauge has an individual wire for reading, like the fuel sender wire, tach wire...that sort of thing.

I dont have a picture of mine but think is sweet now matter how you cut it. Its a great product.
One thing I'm curious about.. Is there a way to get it to go deeper into the dash? Mine sort of sits in the front.. if that makes sense ?

We offer a glove box cover option with all full length dashes...for the pre 70 cars there's a hole for the glove box button and for the 70+ cars there's a bezel for the turn knob to fit in.
