Rim question
« on: September 03, 2006, 01:26:06 PM »

I have some AMC rims I'm trying to sell on craigslist and I want to describe then correctly.  For the rim width i.e. 15 X 6, 15 X 7, etc. do you measure between the inside of the two lips that the tire bead seals to or just right across the whole width of the rim?  Also I was wondering the same thing for measuring back spacing.

Thanks,

Yup, rim width is measured where the bead seats. Backspace is measured from the where the wheel contacts the brake drum to the outside lip of the wheel. A 15x7 rim is 7'" from bead seat to bead seat and almost 8" from outer lip to outer lip.
