I am putting together my 68 Barracuda front suspention and will soon be installing my B451 stroker with 623HP. I have heard racers use slant six torsion bars? Why? Is this not weeker and less stable? Can anyone reccomend some torsion bars for my application? Part Numbers? It will be 50% Street and 50% track. Thanks for any info.
I recommend .920 or .990 inch bars. You also need a sway bar for the street along with good shocks. A car set up for handling will lose a little at the strip, but a car set up for the strip loses a bunch on the street.
Yep many racers would use 6 cyl bars as it would let the front end rise faster for better weight over the rear tires. But for a street car it will handle worse. We use the stock 318 AC bars in my sons Dart. It has a .030 over 400 in it now and was originally a 318 AC car. I figured since we took the AC out and went to lighter headers and aluminum intake that we really didn't add much weight with the 400. And I was right as his Dart is a street car that handles fine. We have put over 8,000 miles on it like that. Ron
