Fast Enough

John Kailholz from Harrison Ohio, bought this 67 Dart 4 years ago from a friend of his. It was as you see it, and equipped with a smallblock.
Of course, that wasn't quite what John had in mind for it.

The interior consists of the basic go-fast goodies for all-purpose driving. Front racing buckets with harnesses, cage, tach, and a Quarter Stick to grab the gears. With the office already furnished, John was free to dive into the fun stuff.

The original 8.75  now holds a 489 case with 4.30 gears, which will be joined by a spool in the coming months. Stock leaf springs with the rear clamps removed hold the rear in place, and traction is improved with MP long shocks and a pinion snubber. 15x10 Weld wheels hold Good Year 28x11 slicks. Moving forward, the 727 is now partners with an 8 inch, 4500 stall Coan converter.

John originally had a mild 383 in the car, which ran 12.90's, but, as he says, it just wasn't fast enough....

The current 383 is bored .030 over and squeezes the mix at 13.5:1.
The straight Cam2 is fed through a Mallory 140 pump and a 3/8" line from the fuel cell to the 1050 Dominator on a TM6 intake.
Ported 452's contain 2.14 and 1.81 valves. They're linked to an MP 590 solid grind with Crane Roller 1.6 intake rockers and 1.5 exhaust.
An MP tach-drive distributor and MSD 6AL box take care of the spark and Pro-Parts headers get the fumes out fast.

Currently, the car is running 11.40's @ 118MPH, weighs 3250lbs. and is all steel aside from the hood.
John says that once in a while he even throws a set of mufflers on and terrorizes the town with it.
Apparently, It's finally Fast Enough - for now.
