Steve Mcleod is the builder of this 68 Dart, which is actually street driven and legal! The car was for sale, and is likely parked in someone elses garage by now... someone else who is likely a very happy fellow.

Unlike most cars that are simply back-halved, Steve had a full plan from the beginning. A complete round tube chassis was constructed using the best of almost everything. Out back, a braced 9" rear contains Strange axles, spool, 4.56 gears and Wilwood disk brakes. A four link with Strange coil-overs controls the motion.  31X18.5 MT Pros put the power down.

Out front a complete strut nose was installed complete with Strange struts and matching Wilwoods. A funny car cage was also added for extra driver safety.

To keep things light, lexan windows were installed, along with 'glass bumpers, fenders, doors, hood and deck lid.
A full aluminum interior and wing completed the basic structure and the whole thing was shot with Sublime Green.

The cockpit is surely race inspired, featuring Harwood seats, Autometer gauges, an MP tach, Hurst line-lock and B&M shifter.
An ARC cage mount panel provides control of the electrical items.

Definitely not for grocery runs in the evening....

No longer for luggage, the trunk holds dual batteries, a 4 gallon fuel cell, a BG400 pump, filter and 4-port regulator. The whole fuel system is plumbed with Aeroquip braided line.

Ahh, so what now is powering this rod? Well, from the 9 inch rear, a thick-wall driveshaft runs up to meet a tried and true 727 which is equipped with a reverse valve body, 3800 converter and a CSI scattershield.

The well-built 727 bolts to the back of a .060 440. The 10.4:1 mill uses 906 heads with 2.14/1.81 valves, copper head gaskets, and is O-ringed for insurance against gasket failure. Arp studs hold the long block together and an alum. pan with Milodon dual-line oil system keeps everything lubed at high rpm. Fuel is fed through an M1 intake with 1050 Holley and is fired by an MSD 7AL3. Spent fumes exit via 2" Hooker headers and a 3.5" exhaust with Flowmasters.  A CSI electric pump, fan and Alum. radiator handle the heat generated by the NOS Fogger System, and all the torque is held in place by front and mid plates.

Upon completion, Steve ran into circumstances that forced him to sell the car before ever making a pass with it.
With full use of the Fogger system, projected ET's would be in the mid 8's, depending on how much nitrous was used.
Hopefully the new owner will try it out and report back to us about just how fast it really is.
