Screamin' 440

Andy Smith is from Bellerose Queens, New York, and his answer to a Big Block A-body is this 74 Swinger.

Starting out back, the springs were re-located and the 8 3/4 was narrowed 3.5" on each side to make some room. It now sprts 11" drums and a 4.56 ring surrounds the sure-grip unit. A manual 727 holds the other end of the driveshaft and a  9" 4000 stall converter is connected to the flexplate.

Under the hood resides a 68 .030 440. A steel crank and stock rods were shot-peened and magnafluxed, and Arias pistons were used to achieve 10:1 compression. An MP 590 cam operates the Harland Sharp Rollers in ported and polished 906's. An M-1 intake holds a Holley 750 and MP electonic ignition takes care of the firing duties. It all goes out though fenderwells and 3 1/2" exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. A hi-volume pump keeps everything oiled and a Cool-It Alum. radiator keeps it all from overheating.

The 71 nose looks a bit better than the original 74 version. Also note a trans cooler hiding in there.
Inside, the dash was tastefully done with alum. diamond plate and AutoMeter Gauges. Duster seats keep Andy and guest comfortable, and a B&M Pro-Stick makes sure he doesn't miss a gear.
Last year, with 4.30's, Andy was running 11.91's through the mufflers at Englishtown.
This winter, 4.56's went in, so he expects a little more from it this year.
11 is such a nice number isn't it?
