GTS

Mark Sweeney, from Waltham, Massachusetts built this 69 GTS in 1990. Since then, he's put over 60,000 miles
on the 440/4speed without a single problem. Who says performance cars aren't reliable?

Out back resides an 8.75 rear with 4.10 gears and Mark Williams
axles. An MP rear sway bar keeps thing stiff on the street.
An 833 4-speed handles gear changes.

Front suspension was upgraded with 73-up disk brakes and another
MP sway bar.
A custom 12-point cage was installed and still allows use
of the rear seat. The inner fenderwells were also removed and replaced with a 1" tube frame to hold the glass nose on.
An original DC K-member was installed to make the bigblock swap quick and easy. Aluminum panels will soon be installed to clean up the engine bay a little.

The 69 .030 440 featured 10.5:1 compression and sports Stage V heads.
A 528/284 cam works the valves and cast manifolds handled exhaust.
Although this 440/4-spd. combo propelled Mark around for quite some time, it was time for a change.
As these pictures were taken, an upgrade was underway....

The new MP mega-block carries Stage VI aluminum heads, a Hughes 597-613 lift cam and 1.6 roller rockers. It's topped off with a tuned port injection system with 55lb/hr injectors and just to keep things interesting, a sizable nitrous system will be added.
In keeping with such a stout engine, the factory 4-speed will be tossed in favor of an aftermarket 5-speed, which Mark hadn't yet decided between the Keisler or Richmond.
Since these pictures were taken, we have been unable to contact Mark for an update.
No doubt all the new hardware has been installed by now.
If you know Mark, let him know it's time to fill us all in on what this monster is capable of....no secrets allowed here :)
