10's And A Plate
(license plate, that is)

When Ronnie Talhelm was 10 years old, his parents bought him this 69 Dart GTS, with the agreement that if he was a good boy, it was his.
Well, instead of getting in trouble, Ronnie spent his time upgrading. He currently has 19+ years of upgrades into what you see here.

Like father....
Ronnie's son will soon be the proud owner of a Plum Crazy 72 Scamp that runs 12's....if he's good :)
Starting underneath, frame connectors were added along with a roll cage. The SS springs were moved in to the frame and the wheelwells were widened for reasonable tire clearance. The stock length 8.75 was fortified with a custom pinion snubber, backbrace and 35 spline Moser axles. A Strange spool holds new 4.56 gears. Power hits the ground with 13" M/T street tires. Ronnie gives many thanks to his dad for all the welding chores. The 727 features a high pressure manual valve body, deep pan, and a new 5200 stall Dynamic converter. A Winters shifter engages the gears and Autometer keeps an eye on the vital signs. Front suspension upgrades consist of poly bushings all around, 90/10 shocks, and Wilwood brakes.

The big dog up front is a legal ex-Super Stock bigblock.
The .055 over 440 holds a stock steel crank, newly installed billet rods with .990 pins and Venolia flat tops. Cam is a custom Comp Cams Super Stock roller with Smith Bros. pushrods and Harland Sharp rockers in the ported 452 heads. On top is a stock M-1 intake and as-bought Holley 1050 Dominator.
An MSD 7-AL works with a gutted billet distributor and Flying Magnet crank trigger.
A 10AN line runs out of the 12 gallon aluminum cell through the BG400 pump and into a BG 4-port regulator. From there, an 8AN line feeds the hungry Holley.
Gas exits the coated Pro-Parts headers and into 3.5" tubes with Dynomax mufflers.

The Dart is licenced and inspected in Pennsylvania and Ronnie's best time so far is 10.50 @ 128mph on street tires.
The new converter, gears, rods, bigger exhaust and taller tires were all added this winter, and Ron's hoping they'll
get him into the 9.90's this spring.
Street legal 10's without a bottle... Gotta Love It.
