Late Alternator Conversion
Upgrading to a dual
field alternator and solid state regulator provides a dramatic improvement in the charging system.
The old mechanical regulator will burn out if you leave the key on, the
old style may only be 35 amps, and the slow switching of the mechanical
regulator causes all your lights to flicker. The dual field alternators
are available in 60 and 78 amps - quite a large improvement, helping with
those electric fans, pumps, ect. It's also a very easy
upgrade.
