Hedman Shorty headers for a B body on an A body

Here is a pic of the headers themselves.

On the drivers side, with manual steering, the #1 tube hits the steering box. The fit for Power steering would likely be worse. Also, the #7 tube may need to be dimpled or slightly modified to fit by the steering column. Not bad for what it is, but, there is more.

This is the pitman arm and the collector trying to occupy the same space. I feel that, although it looks bad here, it could be fixed and made to clear.

The passenger side fits pretty good. I could get it bolted up with no problems. not much to really tell here and you'd think you would be in the clear on this side, but wait..... |

Once again, on this side, the idler arm is in the way. I think this side would still be eaiser to fix than the drivers side, but it still has to be cut up and rewelded. |
| There you have it. the headman b/e-body shorty headers in an a-body with a b motor (lowdeck, 383/400). I dont feel that these would fit any better with a 440 (rb motor) but it may help on the collector issues some but then you'd have to rework some other areas. these might fit very well with the alterkation kit, but as of yet, now one has tried. also remember n these pics that my car is a 73, 400 motor mounted with a motorplate, has manual steering, and does not have the torsion bars installed yet either. |
