No Joke

Are ya ready?
...This car is licenced and insured to operate on public streets...

Darryl Weflen, of Edmonton Alberta Canada doesn't worry much about paint codes. In fact, he doesn't worry much about most parts of a car.
The bruiser you see here has little in common with the Dart that Dodge built, save for some sheet metal.
Glass parts are emplyed where ever possible and yes, the car is street legal, which, in a car like this, pretty much means it has mufflers and working lights :) It IS licenced and insured for street use though, and can actually be driven in public.

The full chassis was assembled in Sweden using mostly JBRC components. It features Strange Struts up front with Wilwood brakes and 15X3 Convo Pro wheels. The power end relies on a back-braced and narrowed 9" with an MW Aluminum center section and other Mark Williams components. 15X14 Convo Pro wheels keep hold the slicks in place. JBRC Pro-Mod wheelie bars keep the car on the ground while 4-link suspension helps cure the traction problems that you'd expect. from a car of this magnitude.
An MW driveshaft connects the 9" to a Lenco 4-speed and a Mcleod dual-disc clutch resides in a Trick titanium bellhousing.

The best part about having a race car is that you
get to have pretty girls pose in front of it...

No man is an island...

Interior is all business. Street legal maybe, but it's a one man show.

Assembled Hemi, awaiting instructions :) This engine pretty much understands only one command ... Go.

The glass nose is home to a serious powerplant.
A 572" Keith Black Stage 6 water block is the foundation for this "street/strip" car. A Crower fuel crank spins BME aluminum rods and 14-1 Venolia pistons. A Jesel belt drive spins the 800+ lift Lunati roller cam, which opens the valves with Dick Landy rockers in the Dart dual plug CNC machined heads. They're topped off with a set of magnesium valve covers. A custom sheet metal intake holds 2 1150 Dominators, 2 NOS Pro-shot fogger systems, and a single NOS plate system. It's all fed through 2 Mallory 250 pumps and Canton fuel filters. Dual MSD 7AL boxes and dual MSD Pro-Billet distributors handle the mountains of juice required to fire such a beast. An aluminum rad, Meziere pump and Evans coolant are responsible for keeping temps at a sane level. Darryl explained that the Evans coolant knocked 15 degrees off the temp through the traps.
Custom headers of course are employed, and a custom aluminum exhaust system provides some sound deadening for street use.

The car was only recently completed and is still being worked out. Shakedown runs have netted Darryl a best of 8.38 @ 165 with heavy wheel spin in 1st, 2nd, and 4th gears. This is also without the 3 stages of nitrous. A better wing is in the works to control some top end stability problems and the engine is currently being gone over for signs of trouble. Next season the car should be worked out and we should see some serious times from this car. Keep an eye out for updates in the coming months.

Darryl made it clear he owes a big thanks to his daughter Danielle and everyone who helped him put together such a car.
Without everyone's hard work, it wouldn't have been possible.
