Re: Racecar specs!! List your specs - helpfull info..

Ok, I really love posts like this and I have a mild street/bracket combo for my limited budget.
1972 dart swinger, stock front bench and rear seat with no carpet giving me 3400lbs with me in the car.

I use a 440 with the stock cast flat tops, steel crank bottom end and windage tray. I think the compression is around 8:1 with the unported 906 heads and steel shim gasket as the cranking compression was around 90psi. It must be the low compression that allows me to use 18 degree initial timing and 41 total with a stock electronic ignition.

The 906 heads have 2.08-1.74 valves, crane ductile rockers and I use the .509 purple shaft. I get the exhaust through schumacher tri-y headers with a short extension pipe. I installed the cam straight up. I run a street dominator intake with a 1" open spacer, crossover blocked with the valley tray, and 850 double pumper with 50cc pumps. The engine is held in place with the 3/8" jegs elephant ears and a front to rear limiter.

I use a stock gas tank with 3/8 pickup and line feeding a high volume mechanical pump. I use and electric water pump, aluminum radiator and electric fan also.

The 727 has a manual reverse valve body and a 9" 3800-4000 turboaction stall converter. The front suspension has /6 torsion bars, 90/10 shocks, and disconnected power steering. I made a set of frame connectors from the info on the tech page. The rear is a 68-69 B body standard width dana 60 that I had 3.73 gears installed and a pinion snubber. The rear is held in with the 002/003 superstock springs and long mopar drag shocks. I use the stock 14" polyglas front tires and the rear are 26 x 10 ET drags with tubes on 15 x 10 weld wheels.
All this is good for low 1.7 60 foots, 7.8 1/8 mile times and 1/4 mile times in the 12.30-12.50 range with 104-107 mph at Quaker City raceway here in Ohio. This is a very basic combo and my first mopar project. These cars are very easy to get into the 12's using stock parts. I can't wait to build another. 0/

Re: Racecar specs!! List your specs - helpfull info..

Well mine is no race car as its a street car I drive when ever I can including driving it to the track. But here is some info about it.
It's a 1963 Ply Sport Fury with an all stock body that I put a 6 point rollbar in. The leaf springs are the original ones and it has air shocks at this time until I put SS springs on it. It has a basic 440 that I built to sorta look like Max Wedge but I dont have a crossram yet. It is a stock bottom end 440 thats .030 over and has a stock crank and rods that I bushed for the KB quench dome pistons. I use 906 heads I ported and cut to get a nice .042 quench and a street friendly 93 pump 10.0 comp. Has the MP .557 cam and Isky iron rockers. The Holley Street Dominator intake with a basic 850 DP. A Mallory dist with the MP orange ecu box. Hedman 1-3/4 headers and 3" exh with Dyno Max Ultra Flow mufflers. I built the 727 with mostly stock Mopar parts and use a TA reverse manual valve body and a Dynamic 9.5 convertor that flashes about 4200 at the track. I have 4.30's and use 29 x 11.5 Hoosier QTP tires. The interior is stock other then the rollbar and the car weighs right at 3700 with me and a 1/2 tank. It is the stock gas tank and I ran 3/8 line and use the Holley red pump. Only ran the 1/4 one time so far with a best of 11.66 @ 114 but it was a very hot day and I love racing it so I will be going out soon in the cool weather. This is a cool post as I really enjoy reading about the cars. Ron

even if i get made fun of, i have a 64 dart with a 4-speed, 73 340, 70 heads, 318 forged crank mild cam, 273 drivers exaust, 318 passenger, dual plane intakle and a 770 vacuum secondary holley. besides the holley it was built in the early 80s and needs to be rebuilt. it has an 8 3/4 rear with whiney 3.55 gears w/ posi, and 50 $ pep boy tires. the closest quarter mile is 4 hours away, ran low tens in the 1/8 mile without power shifting, losing traction in all three gears i could get to. not one person i met down there was running a manual, people who noticed me lose grip every shift would wait at the timeslip booth to check out my primer dart. it was my first time and i am 17.

Re: Racecar specs!! List your specs - helpfull info..

Well this is my new setup, so I have no numbers to backup yet.

    400 block bored .035 with 4.150 440 source kit 499ci. .010 down deck
with ported big valve 346 heads milled to 85cc for 11 to 1. Still waiting on cam,
but probably cam Crower roller, 262/266 @ .050 with .686/.692 lift with HS 1.5 rockers.
Comp 919 springs, TM6 old edelb manifold with 790 Holley E85 carb. It could use more,
but I had this already calibrated for e85. I also have a small plate NOS system I may use. 150HP.

Beefed 727, A&A VB and 9" J convertor, just back from PTC to be loosened to around 4200.

Truck Dana 60 that had 3.54s, new stange axles and spool with disc conversion.

Car went 10.90 @ 123mph, with the old 383 procharger motor. It weighs 3600 with all steel wheels and
My heavy (large frame) in it. Still assembling it all as well as moving the springs in for a little more tire room.
    275-60-15 drag radials now.

1 3/4 ttis into full 3" with X pipe and magnaflows. Thats about it.

Everyone here seems to building drag cars. Mine is going to be a roadracer. It is a 71 Dart that will have a full 2x4 box frame and 14pt cage. Corvette C4 front suspension and a custom 3Link rear. The wheels I have are 17x9 for the front and 17x10.5 for the rear.* I am using a 9" rear with 3.55 and Detroit trutrac. The trans is a tremec t56 with upgrades to handle 600hp. For now it will have a stock 400 with twin turbos but after I get the turbo system dialed in I will change to an all alumium motor. The interior will have sparco racing bucket seats and stewart warner guages.

    71 Dart,BB,t56,tube chassis,6in engine setback,Modified C4 corvette front suspension,custom 3link rear. Shooting for 200mph at the Maxton mile.

I'll throw a curve ball at you guys. The truck in my signature, with the $300 440 in it, it ran a best of 1.595-60ft., 7.621-1/8, and [email protected]/4. The truck weighed 3550 and ran 4.56 gears and had a 38.5 square foot frontal area. (lot of air to push down the track)
    Fast forward to now, new motor, new rearend, rollbar. The engine specs;
528 hemi, cast iron mega block, cast iron heads, SS valves, GOOD valve job, ports just cleaned up. 10.5-1, cam is the old MP 614/598 272/[email protected], 104 centerline installed @102. Deep 12 quart pan, milodon duel line system, tray with scrapper. JE custom pistons with .990 pins, Manley sportsmaster 6.965 rods, bobweight, a portly 2642. ATI dampner, V series bearings, Cloyes hexajust, SmithBros pushrods, Comp cams springs&retainers with Manley lashcaps. Weiand tunnel ram with 2 900+cfm modded thermoquads and ram air, 2-1/8"x34"x3-1/2 equal length headers, 18" collectors, 5000 stall, 4.56 dana with spool, caltracks and 10"x 30" slicks. I haven't weight the pig yet but I estimate it at 3800 lbs. I've been shifting it at 7000 and it hasn't hit it's hp peak yet.
So guys, what are your guesses, what will it run? Dave

MWD; I believe if it doesn't run into the 10's there's something broke, but maybe I'm over optimistic. The 440 with just some of the old MP recs bolted on exceded the MP predictions. Dave **(*)

That's half the fun, nobody expects much from an old truck. Nobody expects to find a stroker hemi under the hood. Dave 0/

hey quick that hemi you built looking at the specs. i do not think it will even make 600hp and the camshaft is the wrong specs. for that hemi. but good luck with it with spray maybe 10s, but thats what we mopar enthusiasts do what ever it takes to go faster! thats the fun of it right.

hey 68 gss, that hemi in an A-body would not even come close to my 68 with the maxwedge 440! and my knuckles are not suffering from bleeding hemi knuckles! thats a good thing.
