History
This is my sons first car that he purchased back in 2003. It was originally sold to a lady teacher in Southern California in 1972 and she kept and drove it until after she had moved and retired here in Arizona sometime in the mid to late 1990's.

She then sold the car to a gentleman in the Phoenix Arizona area who made several changes to the car, including an exterior color change from it's original factory applied Light Green Metallic to it's current Top Banana Yellow and he also had the custom rear White tail stripe painted on the car.

The second owner then sold the car to a gentleman who was an aquaintance of mine as a member in a local Mopar car club. The changes that he made to the car included rebuilding the front suspension, added an aftermarket aluminun intake manifold and a Holley 650 carb to the engine and added a dual exhaust system.

He had driven the Dart to several of our local car club meetings and that's when I started thinking that it would be a great car for my son if it were to come up for sale.

My son had mentioned to me that he really wanted a 1970 or 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda, becaue he loved the 1970 Hemi powered 'Cuda race car that me and my brother-in law had purchased before he had even been born and had loved looking at when he was a younster. I had to break the news to him that a 1970, or 1971 'Cuda of any kind was going to be WAY out of his budget, but that I did have a very cool Dodge Dart in mind that I'd check into for him.

This car was just meant to be for him, because at the very next monthly car club meeting, I see the car pull into the parking lot with a "For Sale" sign in the window!

My wife and me made arrangments that night to bring our son out to his home to look at and drive the Dart. When the garage door was raised and my son saw this cool looking Top Banana Yellow Dart, it was love at first sight, as he got a huge smile on his face! He drove the car and I gave it a good look over and saw that it only had 58 thousand original miles and that it was absolutely rust free and still had all of it's original sheet metal and original interior!

Mechanically, it still had all of it's original drivetrain which included a stock 318 engine with the exception of the changes mentioned above, a stock 904 automatic transmission with a steering column shift set-up and a 7.25 rear differential with a 2.76 gear ratio and no Sure-Grip unit in place. Not a hod rod by any means, but PERFECT for a 17 year old young man looking for a great looking car that wouldn't break his bank account to keep gas in the tank or that would be tearing up parts on a regular basis, so that day in 2003 my son became the fourth documented owner of this 1972 Dart Swinger!

Since that time, I have done LOTS of restoration work with help of several friends to bring this car to it's present better than new condition, but that is WAY to long of a story to get into here, so lets just say that there isn't much on this Dart that hasn't been restored or replaced.

We were also very lucky to have been choosen by Mopar Enthusiast Magazine to have my sons Dart be their cover car and one of the featured cars in their Dec 2008 / Jan 2009 issue of the magazine. A very cool experience for our whole family indeed!
