'65 Barracuda

I know not many people on here like eBay, but I hate to see any good parts go to the junk yard while somebody may want them. There is a fella from NY on there that has been slowly parting out a 273ci V-8 '65 Barracuda. There are still many good parts left with the car that he is trying to get rid of as a shell, like the gas pedal and cable which somebody will need if they are planning on changing a /6 car to v-8, front seats, automatic console, and other items. I'm pretty sure if anyone contacts him he will sell just parts from it instead of the entire shell. His auction says that it's going to the junk yard after the auction closes, so if anyone wants anything they probably should contact him quickly. His eBay name is familyscrapper49 if you want to look for his auctions or you can just do a search for 65 barracuda and find his auctions. I am in no way connected to this individual or his auctions, I just don't want to see a bunch of good parts that someone on here may want go the junk yard or crusher.

Here is a link to the shell: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965...ryZ39405QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You're welcome and welcome to the site. I might be buying one this spring to part out, just so I can get better trim and interior parts for my car.? That's if I think I can get it all sold before Uncle Sam tells me to move.

Good thinking Jim.

Update on the guy selling the Barracuda parts: Well after several calls and emails...this guy SAID he would send me a centerlink, gas pedal and center console for $150. ....he said hold the money until the auction ends and if no one buys the shell, he'll give me a good deal on more parts. He threw in the K frame and 7 1/4 rear for $150 more, delivered. Total bill: $300.

Anyway...auction ends and he contacts me. He was going to DELIVER the parts from NY to NJ on new years day, but cancelled. I only know he "cancellled" because the "time" he was supposed to be here, he wasn't....I called him and he had just woke up. OK, I'll cut him a break, its new years day, right? He then aid he would deliver them today (1-2-06). No email, no contact, won't return a call or email....no show.

He seemed sincere enough and a nice guy on the phone. It turns out he pulled my chain all the way.....oh well. I'm only out time and a few phone calls, at least no money was ever sent. Just beware of this guy in the future if he pops up again on ebay. :p

I'm sorry to hear that.  He has been selling on eBay since September and has a 100% feedback so I wouldn't have expected it to turn out negatively for you, hopefully things will still work out.

It sounds like your getting a pretty good deal on the console and gas pedal, I'm just wondering why you want the K-frame and rearend.  If you already have a K-frame in your car, they are the same whether it is from a /6 or V-8 car so you shouldn't need another.  The 7 1/4 rearend isn't really worth anything unless you just need a rearend to move a vehicle around your yard.  I wouldn't trust one if you are planning on putting any kind of horsepower to it, that's just my opinion though.

I'm sure you'll find others here that want to disagree with me and talk about how great their 7 1/4 or 8 1/4 is, but it sort of reminds me of a local friend of mine that likes to talk about strong running /6's.  Yes there may be some out there, yes theirs may hold up to their motors, but let me put a 500 ci motor, 4-speed, and slicks to it.  It's a gernade with the pin pulled waiting to blow.  If you've got the money then why underbuild so you can upgrade later, when instead you can build it right the first time and never touch it again?  Just my $.02, sorry for the rant.

I'll keep an eye out around here for somebody parting one out, or if I end up buying one this summer to part out I'll keep you in mind.

Good luck,

Brad

The rear is pretty useless....but a friend of mine was looking for a complete one....and I was going to get it for him. I had no plans to run it. The K frame would be handy, as the kids could gusset it and the LCAs this spring. We could also park the completed motor on the K frame for storage....ready to install.

As of tonight, no calls, no return calls, no emails....nothing. My guess is he sold the parts off to someone else for more money. Its off the ebay radar...so no bad feedback can be posted. No money loss....just some time.
