i use a sport comp autometer fuel gauge with my GM sending unit and its anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 of a tank off, depending on what mood its in at that particular momment. One thing did find is that they are really sensitive to how well they are grounded. I had the guage grounded to the dash and its reading was almost half a tank off, so i ran an additional ground wire directly to the negative side of the battery and now it reads alot closer.

I have run one in my 70 for years, it's not too far off. Of course I have two to three extra ground straps on the car (when it was on the road).

Ii have one in my dart, it works pretty good. I put 9000 miles on the car with the guage before the /6 left the building and it gave a pretty good readings. I habve a home made guage cluster in the car and it was well grounded.
