I went to go rebuild my calpers yesterday and saw that one of the pistons has a chip at the edge right above where the dust boot goes (about 1/4"). I think it happened when I blew the piston out with compressed air. Can I still use this piston? I really don't want to have to get a new caliper just because the tip of the piston is chipped.

Can you post a pic?
I'll get one this weekend. I know a pic is worth a thousand words. THe car is at my parents house. I go down there on the weekends to work on it.

Here's a couple pics of the chipped piston.  You guys think it's still usable?  I would just hate to buy one piston.  I'm kind of anal when it comes to that kind of stuff.  I'd like to have a matching pair.

I thought so too. It's not a sealing surface or anything. It's just the groove that holds the dust boot on. I don't think that chip will prevent the dust boot from staying on. I just wanted second opinions. Thanks guys!
