For the 10x2.5 brakes...the early non finned drums are 8878 (aimco #) The also have a small (1/2") groove that the backing plate fits into, on the edge. The 5th ave drums are heavily finned (8877) and have a much great overhang past the backing plate....maybe 1/2 more than the 8878.

Anyone pull part numbers and applications to see what crosses over to diff. vehicles? I think the 8877 and 8878 are interchangeable.... anyone know for sure?

Looks like the 8877 is the same dimensionally as the 8878. Just the 8877 is the heavy duty, finned unit at ~ $95 vs. $55 for the smooth drum. I guess I can put the 8877 on the chally and the 8878 on the 64 valiant, being the Chally is a 440 car. thanks!!

I don't need to buy any drums.  I have 2 new 8877s that were put on the 5th ave, just before I bought it.  I also have 2 new 8878s on the shelf, that I've had since the original 383 Scamp build 2 yrs. ago.   The 8878s will go onto the 8.25 under the 64 Valiant.  The 8877s on the 8.75 for the Chally.
