I'm putting a 318 in the 64 Valiant. I have another 318 from an FJM body....and it has the 45 degree oil filter adapter on it. Do I need the filter adapter for the 64? does the stock position clear the Tbar? Is it a T bar or header related fit issue that drives the need for the adapter?

Well when I first did the V8 swap I used all the parts from a 65 car and it had the adapter. It was cast iron. On the last motor I used an aluminum one from a Fifth Avenue. I'm not sure if it is needed to not, I haven't tried it with out one.

I noticed the 5th ave one has a slot, to pick up a boss on the cast block to keep it from rotating....what did you do there?  just bolt it up tight and let 'er go?

Did all the 273 A bodies have the 90 deg. adapter??

BBscamp, I think that they did. I put mine at an angle going down and I was able run a long filter, but it's close to the torsion bar.
