Bought more rusty cars in the last 2 years then in the last 20. Lot more imports into AZ to make up for the bunch that's already left I guess. Anyway's what's the trick on making things like rearends, control arms and maybe gas tanks, that have a little bit of surface rust, look newer/factory without just painting them? Have one car right now where everything looks great, except the diff. Thanks for any input.

Sandblast it, prime and paint, depending on how bad it's pitted, you could do a coat of sprayable filler or even regular filler and sand it smooth before painting it....Unless it's a show car I'd just paint it....

the one produst I could think of is Ecapo-Rust I think its biodegradable but if I remember right it was a little expensive.

I use that spray can stuff for surface rust that turns it into black primer, by chemically reacting with the rust, you can get it at Autozone for $6 to $8. follow the directions than sand and paint. 0/
