Jim doesnt the 8.25 have only 4 bolts holding the backing plate on?

My friend came across a 77 C body with an 8.25. Is there a chance it's got 11 x 2.5" brake drums?

Not necessarily. Small bolt a-bodies used a thinner wheel flange that was closer to the axle housing than big bolt cars. You can't use big bolt brakes with re-drilled axles.
