my dad has out in our barn a set of brand new 10x2.5 inch brakes for an 8 3/4 or dana 60, he has had them forever but they are all brand new and never used

i was wondering would it be worth the hassle to find 11 inch drums for the back, does it make that much of a diference on the back, i will have 285s in the back

Not worth the effort to find the 11" which would also require a different backing plate and parking brake lever. The 10X 2 1\2 will provide more stopping power than is needed in an unloaded car, and will probably need a prop valve to reduce the tendency of the rears to lock first.
