Pics showing a SB (primer) and a BB K-member. Difference is obvious, but still, I would like you to comfirm this.
Steering box would obviously sit further forward on BB, but why wasn´t a SB Member used when building a BB Member?
One would guess gaining more clearane somewhere?
I have no experience in original BB stuff in an A-body. Please help me clarify this fact.

the differance is for the oil pump on the bb
Yes, but steering box mount has nothing to do with how engine sits...
Not sure how you thing, but engine longitudal placement is determend by the transmission mount in the trans k-member
