I had planned to use a Dana in my car with it's originally planned 440+6 / 4 speed. Then, the project went sideways LOL
The plan now calls for as much lightweight stuff as reasonably possible. I still have my stock 8 3/4 housing and quite a while back, picked up an aluminum MP 8 3/4 which is suppose to be stronger than the stock third members. However, my engine plans have gone upward; I have a TKO600; and I really don't want the weight of a Dana.
I do like the axle bearings the Ford rearend uses and I like the fact the Ford 9" has a supported pinion bearing. Before I have my aluminum third member built, I've been considering the Ford rear.
Will it handle the stick transmission? I also really hate the idea of putting Ford (or GM) parts in my Mopar, but I've been considering an exception here. What do you guys think about the Ford rear?
I'll be running at least 500hp; mainly street car with street tires; will go to the strip maybe twice a year and make maybe 5 runs each time on drag radials or maybe 9" slicks. I'm sure many of you will say GO DANA. It's just that those things are so DAMN HEAVY!
